    We never used HTTPS and now google is shaming all websites that don't use it. I just updated our site to the latest xenforo version so its safe to use.
    There is a way to convert the site to use HTTPS but its going to require some planning and I will start looking into it.

    Could you not just force https using .htaccess? Should work with limited issues. Any issues that do resolve shouldn't take to much work to correct. We just did this on our large membership platform with no real issues. And for the same reason.

    Still need a cert, otherwise your browser will complain. Certificates are expensive.

    Check out: https://www.ssls.com/ PositiveSSL is $3.00 a year for one domain, low assurance, which is more than satisfactory for a forum. I will even donate the $3 if you need it.
